Kiev Day 2 – things we’ve learned… in no particular order

• The Irish Pub has a non-smoking section and plays 80’s music… in English. They also have an English menu and a server who spent the summer in San Francisco. This is all very helpful if you want to breathe while eating and know what you’re ordering.
• There is a Ukrainian equivalent to Starbuck’s. The hot chocolate is just is good, but even more expensive.
• The woman at the corner grocery market is very friendly and very patient. She will wait while you look things up in your phrasebook and then point out what you are looking for… or try to explain what they have instead.
• McDonald’s is McDonald’s wherever you go.
• Milk is NOT milk wherever you go. (I’ve tried a few times. It is called milk, but it is… different.)
• It is very comforting and reassuring to know you have a whole team of people praying for you… even if they are thousands of miles away.
